These sarees have an inordinate amount of stitched or woven work, that can either be handwoven or machine-woven. And so these sarees need special attention while washing followed by after-wash care.

• Try to never set them for a machine wash. Because machines can create a significant tug at the woven works on the saree and dishevel it irreversibly
• Try to give them to the dry cleaners instead
• In case, you want to wash them at home, always bucket-wash them with a mild detergent
• Do not directly put them under sunlight for drying, as that may cause significant fading of colours
• Do not store them in plastic bags if you have zari work on them. The moisture inside the plastic bag will turn the zari black
• In case of stains, always wash it with water as soon as possible. Later on, you can use petroleum for stain removal
• Iron while the saree is still damp, from an up-side-down position
• Do not wring your heavy work saree too hard as that will cause its thread to come out.
